Choreographic Residency at California State University San Marcos, Dance Department

October 2024-May 2025

Our year at CSU San Marcos, a public university, began with a screening of Undanced Dances Through Prison Walls During a Pandemic and a discussion with the audience and community members.

In the spring, as guest artists in the Choreographic Production course, we engaged 15 students of all levels and diverse dance experiences in conversations around abolition with our community members, our relations to and implications in carceral systems. Our week-long collaborative choreographic process, exploring embodied ways to amplified the voices of incarcerated people through speech and movement, culminating in performances of DATA or 15 ways to dance a dance through prison walls as part of the CSU San Marcos spring dance concert.
